After two decades working in a Dublin bank, the cautious Moss Mortimer decides to take a year off from the rat race during the Celtic Tiger era. He resigns from his job and moves out of the family home into a vacant flat in his investment house in Sandymount. While he embraces his independence and frequents his favourite city haunts including Bewley's cafes and Neary's pub, his sister Louise escalates her search for the perfect house. But her negative and jealous nature worsens, to the dismay of their reclusive, divorced mother Clare. As the months go by an entertaining and insightful portrayal of the intricacies of relationships is revealed with emphasis on begrudgery, superficial friendships, the drink culture, status anxiety, the property ladder, workplace tensions and the consequences of resisting change and commitment.
