World history is a dynamic and fascinating field of study. Discussion has recently exploded on the teaching of world history, its relationship to other forms of history, postmodernity, gender relations and topical issues such as globalization and global warming. In Palgrave Advances in World Histories, ten leading world historians examine the many forms of world history writing, from Ephorus to Toynbee and al Tabari to W. H. McNeill. Writing in an accessible and engaging style, they offer a comprehensive introduction to varying methodologies, labels for different approaches, parameters in time and space, and narrative shapes and emphases. This work is a valuable introduction to those new to the field, but will also stimulate discussion, debate and reflection.
